Two days in Hawaii
Lanikai Beach, Oahu, Hawaii
June 2021
DAY 2:
Walking out to a pre-dawn view of palm and Moku Nui
Casting a gaze skywards to catch the bright waning crescent moon
A lone boat stranded aside wind-blown palm trees
Strolling northwards before the sun makes its appearance
Warmth of the Lanikai sunrise blankets its spectators
As the sun comes up in the east, clouds toward the west reflect a pink hue cascading down the verdant mountainside
And returning as the sun brightens up the sky
A paddler makes his way out to the Na Mokulua
One of many artistic residential doorways across from one of many sandy walkways to Lanikai beach
Residual mist and cloud blows away from O'ahu mountains and the old Pali Road
A windy, vine-laden road leading to Likeke Falls trailhead
Wild chickens guard the gate
Natural and artificial artwork a short walk in to the Likeke Falls trail
Rainforest foliage dangles above and in front of every step one takes
Off to the right openings permit forest growth at all heights
Another glimpse at the area rainforest ... just dipping toes into the hike to be completed at another date
DAY 1:
Before sunrise, light reflecting off of palm trees over a home walking down towards Lanikai beach
The sun breaks through clouds above the morning horizon
A couple strolls back from the northern section of the beach, coffee mugs in hand
Local Maui Brewing Co. with an eponymous rig ashore
A sole swimmer wades towards the rising sun
Taking in the early morning with a walk, a lay on the sand, or an early diary entry
The path from the main road to the beach
